Can I ask for marriage counseling if my spouse files for divorce?
If you are in an active divorce proceeding then the court has jurisdiction of your case and you can file a motion requesting counseling. If the court does order counseling then that would be a court order and the parties would be required to do it, but again it would have to be pursuant to a court order. Also, in Florida it is unlikely that you would be able to obtain a court order requiring counseling. The reason is that Florida is a no fault divorce state and there are essentially no requirements to divorce, except that the party filing the divorce believes the marriage is irretrievably broken.
