Who is a mediator and how are mediators selected in a family or divorce case?
A mediator is going to be an unbiased and neutral certified family law mediator who attempts to facilitate an agreement at the mediation between the parties in divorce and family law cases. Mediators are selected by the parties in the event they want to attend a private mediation. If they go to county mediation for their mediation, then they are just assigned to a mediator. Private mediation is much preferable to county mediation even if it costs more up front as it is more likely you will come to an agreement. That is because there is no time limit and a professional typed agreement is prepared. County mediation is good if there are not complicated issues in the case, for instance you only have children issues to decide.
