Can I go back to my maiden/former name after my divorce in Florida?
Yes. Usually it is really simple to go back to your maiden name or former name in a divorce action. You would request the name change in the Petition itself. However, if you have filed for bankruptcy during the time when you were divorced or had other litigation with that married name, there may be more that you have to do to change that your name. Usually, even then there are no problems with a name change with a divorcer. If you do not obtain a name change with the divorce, then you will have to file a petition for a name change and complete all of the paperwork and attend a final hearing on it, which will be additional costs of filing and going through the name change process.
