When is it necessary to take a paternity test?
During the pendency of a paternity action, if either parties contests the paternity of the child then they can motion the court and ask the court to require a paternity test to be completed and submitted to the court to see if the person claiming to be or claimed to be the father is actually the biological father of the child. A paternity test can also be completed voluntarily by the parties if both of them are agreeable to it.
