Will I get to keep my house, car, and property after my divorce in Florida?
The division of your assets in divorce really just depends on the totality of your assets. If you have a house and your spouse has a house, also, then it may be a situation where you each get to keep your houses, but if you have a house that has $150,000 of equity in it, and your spouse doesn’t have any other assets and that’s the only asset of the parties, then you may be able to keep the house if you pay the other spouse their portion of the assets, but it really just depends on your unique situation. You’re going to look at all the assets, and basically, they’re going to be equitably divided usually 50/50 between the parties and often times the parties decide how to divide them, rather than allowing a court a do so.
